About Me
Hey Everybody!
I'm Ben Terry, going by the moniker "NeonAce" here on tilde.club. I'm from Carson City, Michigan and I work in I.T. at a hospital for a living. For entertainment I play role-playing games and enjoy playing music, mostly on guitar. My plan for my web space here is to just relish having it be a personal web page where I post things related to my interests and experiment a bit with using HTML. Even though I work in I.T., I don't have a lot of web coding experience and I'm totally a "Look up examples and copy them" level operator on that front. I look forward to checking out what everyone is doing.

Internet Tech
- Neocities.org: Neocities is the lovely modern Geocities. It's a place where you can get free static web hosting and do up your own page just how you want it. You should have a web page somewhere that isn't just a profile on some other company's service, something you made yourself. Give it a try here!
- Tildeverse.org: It's totally the central site for the Tildeverse, who is running servers, and the various services the community is running. Get an account on a Unix server of some kind, play around!
- Al's Geek Lab - Back to the BBS: Al's Geek Lab covers a variety of computing topics, but here is the beginning of his documentary on the BBS scene. It's the internet from before the web, and you can still play!
- Mystic BBS: It's among the most common, still in use BBS servers that people set up on their own computers.
- SynchroNET: The other most common BBS people set up and customize these days.
- The Telnet BBS Guide: For when you get interested in BBSs and need to look up one to connect to.
- Indie Web Camp: Exploring interesting ideas in owning your own data, techologies to build a web presence independent of the the standard big centralized companies. I find myself interested in stuff they are working with, like WebMentions, h-feed, social readers... worth checking out!
- Fediverse Party: This site just gives a broad overview of services considered part of the Fediverse (Mastodon, a Twitter alternative being among the most popular). A batch of cool ideas using ActivityPub, and other ideas using other protocols. Worth checking into if you've never heard about it.
- Project Gemini: Gemini is a simple protocol and markup language for creating and displaying information simply and easily on the internet. I dunno, I just like it.
