about christa

My name is Christa. I am a 30something writer, educator and speaker (amongst other things... multi-hyphenate, I suppose?) I write a lot about disability justice, relationships (and relational healing), fat liberation and more. I live in NYC with my spouse and two dogs. If you'd like to learn about my work, you can visit my professional page here. Otherwise, I liken myself an amateur sociologist and anthropologist: I'm obsessed with pop culture and small niche subcultures. (That's how I got involved with this space) I travel a lot for work, and I often love meeting others on my travels abroad. I was born and raised in Hawaii, and my family still lives there so I get to visit a lot. My spouse's family is from Europe, so we often go back and forth (hence our home base in NYC.) In my free time, I am chronically online but trying to reconcile with that.

what about this website?

This website is a work in progress. It's hosted on tilde.club, which is a shared public computer. This is my space in the shell. I edit this page using Micro text editor through CLI, because it's the easiest. (And supposedly, a successor of Nano, which I used to edit my work previously. Otherwise, the base CSS of this theme is from CSS bed's sakura and sakura-vader themes to minimize load and bloat.

why dumpster fire?

idk. i thought it was funny? this is sort of what i mean and how i feel!

tech specs

I currently use a MacBook Pro and it's default Terminal to edit this site. Sometimes, if I desire a GUI, I will switch to Secure ShellFish when I want something sturdier or need a little assistance. My preferred CLI shell is FISH, though I know the standard is bash or zsh. (But fish has really cute colors. Again, as I stated above, I use Micro text editor through CLI, upgraded from nano recently. Because of the space, I wanted to follow Jeff Huang's treatise on building a website designed to last, and therefore this is a testing ground for responsive, brutalist and accessible web design that is built to last.
