It's taken me three days to get to the Beta system from the Alpha system. When I first got here I did a preliminary scan of the system and found 13 locations that could support life or some type of outpost. As usual, I come out of hyperspace at the hyper limit and make my way toward the primary star.
B-001 is the second planet orbiting around the Beta systems primary. It's a terrestrial planet with a fairly dense atmosphere. It has large areas of temperate forest, a large lake region, and a desert near the equator. There are some ruins in the desert region that I'll need to investigate.
As I was coming out of orbit and passing through the atmosphere I noticed something intersting in the treetops of the forest. I slowed down and made another pass to find a clearing nearby so I could go an investigate. Once on the ground I got my pack and rifle and headed to the location of interest.
When I got to the spot, I looked up. I could see masses of flowers that looked like Wisteria. Large patches of light purple or lavender. It was a beautiful site. I took several readings of the flowers and of the trees. I even took some soil samples. Just as I was leaving I took a cutting to have in my ship, it could use some color.
After getting back to my ship, I took off and headed for the ruins in the desert. I was able to land just outside the main cluster of structures. Once again I took up my pack and rifle and head to the structures.
The structures are all made of a sedimentary stone similar to sandstone back on Earth. There seems to have been some paint on the structures but most of it has been eroded away over time. There are carvings in the walls and columns as well. I could spend years here detailing what I see, but I don't have the time and that's not my job. I'll make some recordings and take some pictures and send the data off to headquarters. They can send a full archeological team out here to study all of this. For now, I need to pack up and head to B-002.
End of log.
